Afghanistan uncovers 236 tons of marijuana
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Officials say they have uncovered 236 tons of marijuana in a massive drug bust in southern Afghanistan.

Deputy Interior Minister Lt. Gen. Abdul Hadi Khalid says the marijuana was found by Afghan counternarcotics officers in Kandahar province Monday. The drugs are estimated to be worth more than $400 million and were burned on site.

236 tons is an amazing amount of cannabis which comes as a result of another bumper cannabis crop in Afghanistan. Meaning Europe is in for another bumper year. Maybe we should send more "poppie wackers", as the last lot (see pic) dont seem to have been very effective.

British Capt. Mike Finney, a NATO spokesman, confirms that amount was found and says a trench some 6 feet deep had been dug out by a bulldozer and filled with bags of marijuana. The trench was covered by foliage to camouflage it.

The top spokesman for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, Garrison Courtney, says he can't think of any other bust that has netted that many tons of drugs.
