Alleged marijuana grow-op head faces court |
A 36-year-old man alleged to be the head of a marijuana grow operation that converted houses on the South Shore into indoor pot-producing gardens appeared in Quebec court today where he faces drug trafficking charges.
| While making a brief appearance before a judge at the Longueuil courthouse Friday morning Norman Lambert was ordered to be held in custody until his bail hearing on Monday. He is suspected of being the head of a network that distributed and sold in marijuana in most of Longueuil's boroughs. | |
He faces charges of producing marijuana and possession with the intent to traffic.
Lambert and his 39-year-old girlfriend were arrested Thursday night in Brossard as part of an investigation by the Longueuil police dubbed Prect Massif. His girlfriend faces similar charges.
The investigation began in March. Several search warrants were carried out during the summer at three homes in Brossard, St. Hubert and Boucherville. Police seized thousands of dollars in cash and marijuana plants in various stages of growth. They also seized electronic equipment like used to grow plants indoors including several heat lamps.
Five other people have been arrested in Project Massif so far.
