Guards find $2-million in marijuana |
|
A Brampton man faces charges after border guards found $2 million in marijuana inside a transport truck, Friday.
Officers with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection stopped the truck after it had crossed the Peace Bridge.
The driver produced a manifest and invoice for a commercial shipment of airline trays destined for Pennsylvania.
A gamma-ray scan of the cargo produced an anomaly that was inconsistent with the registered freight, said border protection spokesman Kevin Corsaro.
Officers searched the back of the truck and found 17 boxes filled with 300 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana valued at $2 million.
Charged with importation and possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance is Budh Dhaliwal, 35.
