Police bust marijuana grow operation near Fenelon Falls |
|
Two men were arrested on Monday after police seized an estimated $430,000 in marijuana from a farm near Fenelon Falls
Kawartha Lakes OPP say the Huronia Combined Forces Drug Unit and tactical response officers executed a search warrant on a farmhouse and barn on County Road 8.
Constable Mary Anne Byrne said the property is west of Fenelon Falls. "It was quite the operation," she said.
Police described the grow-op as "a sophisticated, three-stage operation capable of producing a significant amount of illegal drugs."
During the search, officers located 3,200 marijuana plants, about 400 grams of cannabis resin and equipment used in production.
Police say the farmhouse and multi-level barn were converted to enable an "efficient" marijuana production operation.
Michael Lemmon, 41, of the City of Kawartha Lakes, and Allan Erdic, 38, of St. Catharines were arrested at the scene.
They are facing charges of production of marijuana, production of marijuana resin and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
The investigation is continuing.
