Cannabis most common drug

CANNABIS is the most commonly used drug in Mayo, while a high detection rate for both cannabis and cocaine was recorded in the past year, according to a top-ranking Garda official.

Speaking to The Mayo News, following the Mayo Mental Health seminar, ‘Who Cares? – Alcohol and Drugs Misuse by Teenagers’, Inspector Mick Murray said that the newly-established Garda Drugs Unit was testament to the prevalence of drugs within the county.

“There have been numerous detections in the six Garda districts throughout the year with the drugs unit working extremely closely with all personnel and enjoying tremendous cross co-operation.
