The arrests involved Spanish and Moroccan nationals and they were made in May at several locations across Spain, police said in a statement.

Police also seized three boats used to transport the drug from Morocco, six vehicles, 50 000 euros in cash as well as several mobile telephones as part of their operation, the statement said.

 Spain, with its extensive coastline, is Europe's main entry point for Moroccan cannabis and cocaine from South America, mostly from Colombia. - Sapa-AFP
