Police found 300 plants growing under a house at Paraparaumu Beach in varying stages of maturity, dried plants, ammunition and a sawn off shotgun.

Detective Sergeant Ian Martin says police are also trying to find out how widely the drug was distributed.

A 46-year-old Paraparaumu man has appeared in the Porirua District Court on drugs charges in relation to the case.

Martin says inquires are continuing into whether anyone else is involved in setting up the operation as well as whether the crop has been distributed.
