Murder accused admits killing in secret
A murder accused revealed to an undercover cop how shooting an Indian man would haunt him until the day he died, a court was told today.

The jury in the High Court trial of Paul Joseph Cameron viewed a video recorded by police during their undercover operation to catch Balwinder "Babu" Singh's killer.

Cameron has denied murdering Mr Singh, an Indian overstayer, who went missing in 1993. His skeletal remains were located by forestry workers in the Whareratas in November 2005.
The video showed Cameron meeting with a man he believed to be "the boss" of a criminal organisation he wished to join.

The boss, known only as Tony, asked Cameron if there was anything in his past that might come back to hurt "the crew".

Tony said he could "fix it" but first he had to know what it was.

After a lot of hesitation and denial of any involvement, Cameron finally told Tony that he shot Mr Singh after he tried to roll him for his cannabis plantation.

He said he and his mate were at their cannabis plots when "a f**king Punjabi c**t" and some of Cameron's mates turned up and started taking some of their cuttings.

He said he shot Mr Singh for bringing the others to the plantation.

"You know I thought f*** I've done all this for what?I just panicked mate, lined them up and just let rip," Cameron said.

He shot Mr Singh from 60m away and just left him where he lay.

He and his mate grabbed the guns, jumped in the car and had not spoken about it since.

Cameron said police had nothing on him because if they had he would have been "given life years ago".

He said talking about it made his "guts turn" and made him feel "uneasy".

"Yeah I mean it'll haunt me until the day I die you know.

He said he did not want open his mouth about it.

"F**k that was hard man," he said when the conversation ended.

"It just ripped my guts out when you brought that up."

The jury also heard audio of conversations the police intercepted at Cameron's house.

During one conversation Cameron denied knowing Mr Singh, saying his mother dated another Indian man.

But later he said Mr Singh was a friend of his mother's boyfriend.

He told his flatmates he knew nothing about Mr Singh's murder and that police "aint got s**t on me".

"They got no reason to be knocking on my door brother," Cameron said.

"I knew I should have chopped him up and...scattered him," he said laughing.

"Nah, that not right, eh bro, when someone's been murdered."
