Coastguards fishing for cannabis |

Athens - Greek coastguards have spent two days fishing out scores of plastic packages containing unprocessed cannabis that washed up on Peloponnese coast, the merchant marine ministry said on Friday.
Seventy-seven waterlogged packages weighing over 230 kilograms have been picked up from waters near the coastal town of Kyparissia, the ministry said in a statement.
"For the moment, we have no information on how the packages ended up in the sea," a ministry officer told AFP. "The investigation continues."
The authorities were alerted after six packages washed up on a beach, and others were found scattered along a 20 kilometre coastline.
Greek coast guard patrols often intercept ships carrying contraband - mainly cigarettes - but seaborne cannabis hauls of this size are rare.
