A cannabis greenhouse camouflaged in a Chateauguay bungalow was dismantled by police last Tuesday. The owners of the building will face charges.
Chateauguay police conducted the successful raid at 43 Wilbrod street. They seized slightly more than 400 cannabis plants of various sizes; 1.8 kilos of pot in bulk, and equipment necessary for indoor cultivation of the plants. The latter included powerful lamps.
The entire haul by police was estimated at $550,000.
Two Montreal residents, Wen Ling Zhao, 41, and his spouse, He Ping Sun, 52, were charged last Tuesday with the growing and possession of drugs.
The couple bought the house last August, according to Chateauguay police spokesperson Nathalie Langevin. But the property was used strictly as a greenhouse only.
Zhao was intercepted by police at the time of the raid when he was getting ready to leave the site by car. His wife was arrested a little later at the couple's Montreal residence.(Tr: D.R.)
