MORRISBURG -- A man police found lying on a lawn here early Sunday morning was charged with drug possession after becoming "combative" with officers, provincial police said.

 

An Ontario Provincial Police officer was on patrol around 2 a.m. in Morrisburg when he noticed a man lying on a lawn on Ottawa Street, police said in a press release.

When approached, the man became "aggressive and combative," it adds. A subsequent check revealed "a small amount of marijuana," it continues.

A 23-year-old man was arrested and a charged with possession of a controlled substance, said police, who did not identify the accused. He is to appear in court in Morrisburg May 1.
