Busted Realtor Linked to 10 Pot Houses

An Elk Grove real estate agent who owns two of the 21 pot houses raided by police on Wednesday sold eight of the others during a whirlwind selling spree last year.

Hoang is one of 15 people arrested during a daylong series of raids in Elk Grove, Galt and Sacramento. Seven strike teams seized a total of 6,855 marijuana plants.

Many of the suspects own the homes where the pot was being grown.

But Hoang's connection to the pot ring goes much deeper than just the two homes she owns. Hoang is a licensed real estate salesperson, and records show she sold eight of the other pot houses during a four-month period last year.

"A total surprise," said Gus Chaveste, an agent at Elite Realty Services in Elk Grove where Hoang worked.

Chaveste told News10 Hoang left the real estate brokerage a few months ago to take a job as a loan officer at Wells Fargo Bank. None of her former colleagues had heard about her arrest.

"She's a very good, humble lady," Chaveste said. "So it's kind of difficult for me to believe something like that."

Elk Grove police said they'd been watching Hoang and the others for 10 months, waiting patiently for the right time to strike.

"We wanted to make sure we identified all the players," explained Elk Grove police spokesman Chris Trim. "We wanted to make sure we knew who was going to be in the homes when we went in there."
