The indoor marijuana farm was discovered after firefighters Saturday responded to a report of fire at 7007 Sundance Meadows, according to a statement Carlson released today.
After they extinguished a fire in the home's back yard, firefighters noticed what appeared to be an electrical cord running from a utility pole through the yard.
"It was learned an illegal electrical connection had been made between the residence and the main utility line," Carlson said.
People from the Fort Bend County Fire Marshall's office and electrical and gas utility workers who investigated spotted two dogs running loose in the house but got no human response. Fearing someone might be injured or electrocuted inside, officials entered the house through an unlocked rear door and discovered marijuana plants instead of humans, Carlson said.
Members of the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force were called and they obtained a search warrant for the residence, Carlson said.
Investigators later filled a trailer with marijuana plants, growing lights, a water pump and other items used to grow the plants, Carlson said.
