Police confiscate 20 pounds of marijuana after sting operation |
BOGALUSA - Police arrested two Bogalusa men on drug charges and confiscated 20 pounds of marijuana after a Thursday sting operation that started in St. Tammany Parish.
| Richard Allen, 44, and Latodrain "City T" Dillon, 30, were both arrested on charges of drug possession and possession with intent to distribute, Capt. Joe Culpepper of the Bogalusa Police Department said. BPD and the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office learned from | | | the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office that a truck was scheduled to deliver a package of marijuana to a Bogalusa residence, Culpepper said. St. Tammany sheriff's deputies had intercepted the truck Thursday morning, he said. |
Once they discovered the package of marijuana, both local law enforcement agencies decided to allow the delivery to continue and monitor subsequent events. After the deliveryman left the package at a vacant house, Allen allegedly picked up the package, which was wrapped tightly in plastic, and took it to Dillon's nearby home on Albrought Street, Culpepper said.
Culpepper said the Bogalusa Police Department has long suspected Dillon has engaged in drug activity. He also said the quantity of marijuana indicated Dillon and Allen were in Bogalusa's upper echelon of drug traders.
Even with a nearby vacant house, the operation took place in an area of the city without much crime, Culpepper said. Allen lives in a "fairly quiet neighborhood," he said.
The package was sent from Mission, Texas, Culpepper said. The cannabis has a street value of $32,000 Culpepper said.
Bogalusa Police Chief Jerry Agnew praised all police officers and deputies involved in the big bust.
"I really have some confidence in these guys," Agnew said.
Spokesmen from the both parishes sheriffs' departments were unavailable to comment.
