The driver of the vehicle was 31-year-old Laura Trevino, a U.S. citizen. She was accompanied by her mother, 59-year-old Maria Venegas de Trevino, who is a Mexican national and legal resident.

Trevino was also with her sisters, 23-year-old Adriana Trevino and 27-year-old Evelia Trevino. They're both U.S. citizens.

Evelia Trevino was accompanied by a minor child. That child was released to an adult relative.

CBP officers noticed discrepancies to the vehicle's undercarriage and to its front bumper. The vehicle, driver, and passengers were given an intensive examination.

That's when a narcotic detector dog alerted officers to the presence of narcotic odors emanating from the Mercedes Benz.

At one point, the suspects tried to run from CBP and flee to Mexico. CBP officers quickly responded and prevented them from getting away.

While interviewing the women, CBP officers saw unusual bulges to the bodies of Maria, Adriana and Evelia. During a personal search of the females, officers found cocaine packages underneath the clothing of the three women.

CBP officers found eight cocaine packages on Maria Venegas Vda de Trevino, three packages on Adriana Trevino and four packages underneath the clothing of Evelia Trevino.

After their arrest, the four females were transferred to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) special agents.

ICE agents continue to investigate the drug smuggling incident.

The woman are still in custody. The 2006 Mercedes Benz was also seized.
