Seven arrested in connection with 15m cocaine seizure |
Police were continuing to question a gang suspected of trying to smuggle cocaine with a street value of £15m into the UK yesterday.
| A total of seven men were arrested at the port of Harwich in Essex and in subsequent raids across the UK after police discovered 140kg of the drug – one of the biggest ever cocaine seizures on the British mainland– in two lorries on Saturday morning.

| CID officers from Cumbria police had stopped and searched the vehicles after receiving a tip-off.
In a separate incident, a 19-year-old German woman was allegedly caught trying to bring cocaine worth £500,000 into Britain through the port of Ramsgate in Kent. The second seizure was also made on Saturday, |  | when UK Border Agency officers stopped Jasmin Bollinger's car and discovered around 11kg of the class-A drug inside after she had disembarked a ferry from Ostend, Belgium.

| | Ms Bollinger appeared at Dover magistrates' court yesterday, where she failed to enter a plea. She was remanded in custody to reappear at the same court on 8 May.
