scientists cannabis 'brain fear' |
|
They have discovered how part of the brain which controls inhibitions and suppresses fears is switched off.
This can lead to paranoid ideas and fears being released, increasing anxiety. An ingredient of cannabis called THC (tetrahydro-cannabinol) has been known to increase psychotic symptons but there has been little research on how this happens.
Now research, to be revealed this week, will show how THC "switches off" a crucial part of the brain which controls inappropiate behaviour.
