Whether its Steve Jobs, Bill gates, Richard Branson or the president of the United States you can bet whatever you want, that they have a blog and they use it daily.

"If you are the president of the United States (especially one of the last couple), chances are you have A. Got something interesting to say, and B. People are going to want to come and look.  Goes without saying.

But if you are Derek Jones from Liverpool, or Zachariah Goode from Tennessee, chances are getting people to come and read your blog will be a bit trickier!!

Out in Internet forum land I have seen some awesome grow diaries undertaken, but perhaps more importantly, completed to a successful harvest.

There are literally thousands of other medical growers all over the world who could really benefit from your information, but over and above all that, you could also be earning money, just for carrying out your hobby!

In a bid to get people to visit websites, companies set up affiliate schemes for people in a similar position to you - perhaps running a small website or blog, or maybe just thinking about it for the first time!

You simply rock up to a chosen company who you may have had dealings with in the past, (seedsman is a great example and one I would recommend), sign up for an affiliate scheme at which time you are given a unique identifying code, which you install on your website, (we'll show you how) generally with a "click-thru" link to the vendors website.  

From that point forth any purchases the visitor makes you receive a variable amount from the transaction, but normally around 20%.

Which is non-too shabby when you consider some seeds cost hundreds of dollars/pounds for a single pack!

So if a visitor clicks through a banner from your site, and buys a pack of seeds, or maybe some high quality fertiliser, your affiliate code is registered with the vendor, and you receive a commission on the sale. Awesome!

If you got a "large social circle" out in the social networks its quite possible to build an entire business, just using affiliate links on your website, and we'll look into that at another time, in a future article.

Its not a new phenomena by any stretch but it does mean all that information you previously posted on a message board, has a value! Its a commodity and you hold the exclusive copyright, which people are prepared to pay to associate with.

On top of that, all this publicity goes on in the background! With no intervention from you, apart from some initial setting up. And everytime you update your blog, the people WILL come.
