ever wonder who does all them sick stunts in video games?
Bob Burnquist is one of those names tha seems to have been around for ever.
But while the likes of Tony Hawk and Bam Margera were off making their name in other, less painfull fields, Bob Burnquist was out there on his own personal mega ramp, in a bid to prolongue at ageing vert experts career.
Ageing? Unfair?
He's nearly as old as me but rather than thinking of cups of hot milk and an early night he's had his own mega ramp built out in the desert, and he is giving it hell, in preps for the 07 X-Games.
Now I dont know about you but when I was a kid I wanted a swing, and maybe a slide in my back garden.
Not Bob, oh no..he has a mega ramp.
As if thats not enough, did you ever wonder how they work out all them sick stunts which appear in the video games?
You know the ones right...blast down a real steep hill, back up the other side of the hill, ollie into a railgrind, into a BASE jump off a cliff, do some of that cool para-flying through the valley and parachute into a landing which makes you look rad and cool, right outside the refreshments tent.
But they don't really do that..I mean its all computer generated right..?
Bob Burnquist - Ollie to railgrind to BASE jump - all in a days work
I couldn't do that on a playstation!
And speaking of computer games did you ever wonder who dreams up all them moves? You know the ones - triangle-square-circle-L1-L2 all at once - the ones your 9 year old use against you everytime, meaning by the time he or she has finished with their uber-combo, your ollie-to-stalefish seems somehow..understated, to say the least.
Well in case you were wondering if those impossible-looking transitions are even possible in real life, check out big bad Brazilian Bob Burnquist as he readies himself to loop the loop - OUTRAGEOUS grind transfer.
Rock on Bob. Still going strong.
Bob Burnquist - King of Skate
The word is, if its possible on a skate game, someone somewhere must have pulled the trick at some stage.
Think about that next time you're "grinding the rails" on Tony Hawks 27 "Who cares anymore urban hero's" edition and a train comes from the opposite direction.
