Is it Safe to Use CBD Oil For Thyroid Cancer?
Is CBD oil for thyroid cancer right for you? If you have been diagnosed with this potentially deadly illness, you are probably feeling as if time is running out. With the number of cases rising steadily each year, more people are asking the question, “Is CBD oil for thyroid cancer right for me?” The answer depends on a number of factors including your age, weight, lifestyle and general health. Here is what we do know about CBD oil for thyroid cancer.
It has long been known that the body produces naturally occurring chemicals called endorphins when you exercise, go for a walk or engage in a strenuous activity. It is these endorphins that give you the feeling of happiness, well being and motivation. The latest research into the CBD and the immune system suggests that it has the potential to strengthen our immune system by suppressing the activity of inflammatory cells, which are part of the problem when you have an illness like cancer. When you have such an illness, it is often the result of abnormal cell communication between our immune system and other organs and tissues. CBD is able to interfere with this communication which prevents our bodies from attacking healthy cells.
Recent studies in China, America and the United Kingdom have shown that CBD can reduce the severity of symptoms in people who suffer from Li-Qi (Liu Qi) Shen Gong, a traditional Chinese therapeutic cure for illness which is thought to be responsible for the healing of more than one million people every year. The most common complaints from patients taking CBD oil were fatigue, gastrointestinal problems and joint pain. A recent study from the University of Nottingham found that ordinary people, who knew nothing about CBD, were able to tolerate the medicinal benefits of CBD by using a mouthpiece similar to those used when dentists treat patients with tooth decay. The researchers suggest that regular CBD consumption could reduce the cases of chronic fatigue syndrome and osteoarthritis. Another study carried out at University College London, led by Professor David Shaw, showed that CBD can reduce the severity of depression.
However, scientists must first understand how CBD works before they can fully appreciate the potential benefits of this versatile oil. Most of the benefits of CBD come from its powerful antioxidant content. This makes CBD one of the strongest natural antioxidants anywhere in the world. As such, it is extremely beneficial for treating skin disorders like psoriasis and eczema. Furthermore, experts believe that the oil can help to control weight gain and regulate insulin levels in diabetics.
To investigate the potential benefits of CBD for thyroid cancer, scientists set out to find out if there were any similarities between the two diseases. They focused on two common diseases that afflict many mainland Chinese people – hyperthyroidism and Hashimoto’s disease. Both conditions are caused by overactive thyroid function. In the case of hyperthyroidism, the patients have an elevated heart rate and high blood pressure. In the case of Hashimoto’s disease, the body’s immune system attacks the tissues instead of attacking the bacteria that causes it.
For their investigation, the scientists from the University of Glasgow carried out both in vitro and in vivo tests on human cell cultures. These tests proved that CBD significantly reduced the growth of leukemia cells in vitro. It also exhibited anti-microbial and anti-cancer properties. The results of these tests were published in the prestigious Journal of Immunology.
The scientists did not, however, test CBD against one of the deadliest viruses known to man – AIDS. But what they did test CBD against HIV, a virus that kills thousands of people every year. The results of this study, which was published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation, showed CBD to have anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The scientists said that future studies should test CBD against other viruses like those that cause the common cold or that cause influenza. The tests were therefore limited to leukemia cells alone.
The benefits of CBD can thus be applied not only to leukemia but also to HIV patients and other patients diagnosed with other kinds of cancers. Other diseases treated with CBD oil include stroke, Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome and Crohn’s disease. CBD cream is already available in the U.S. for the treatment of Crohn’s disease. A clinical trial involving sixty-two patients with advanced liver cancer indicated that the oil could help improve survival time, reduce liver enzyme levels and help other symptoms associated with the disease. The study was conducted by a team of researchers led by Dr. Guang Wu from the University of Nottingham in England.
