How To Protect Your Dog From Dangerous Diseases

Before releasing it into the wild, CBD Lyme disease testing must be done in a laboratory to determine if the dog is infected with this bacterial disease. This is necessary because the titer of bacteria from which Lyme can be caused cannot be detected through conventional blood tests. A blood test that detects the antibody lysozyme will not work. Therefore, in Lyme cases, a pet-based diagnostic test called ELISA and molecular probe test are necessary.

As mentioned earlier, pet owners need to be aware of these diseases so that they can help their pets recover safely. Lyme disease is spread to the dog through the bite of an infected black-legged deer. The animal then brings the disease back to the pet owners, causing considerable pain and suffering. If caught early enough, recovery is possible.

However, the likelihood of this happening is remote unless there is already some swelling in the joints or in the heart. Lyme disease is caused by a spirochete named Borrelia burgdorferi. It normally resides in the fatty tissues and organs of the body, but it commonly finds its way to the skin and into the muscle and joint tissue. The symptoms of the disease are similar to those of the Lyme disease but in more severe cases, there are shooting, numbness and paralysis of the limbs.

At first, the symptoms are mild. The dog might show some skin irregularities, loss of appetite, lethargy and depression. As the disease progresses, there will be more visible and pronounced signs. Some of these include arthritis, loss of hair, mange, impaired breathing and in severe cases, paralysis and death.

Pets can become infected with ticks even when they appear healthy and well. It is important to note that most dogs do not show any sign of Lyme infection until two weeks after coming into contact with an infected animal. The disease often affects older dogs more than young ones, and males are more likely to be infected than females. There is also a greater chance of catching the disease from other infected pets.

Dogs can get sick with other diseases as well, so it is essential that you make sure that your dog has the proper vaccinations to prevent them from contracting Lyme disease. Lyme disease is highly contagious, so it is important to isolate your pet as soon as you suspect he has it. Once infected, it takes some time before symptoms start to manifest. Symptoms for your dog include lethargy, loss of appetite, joint inflammation and swelling and fever. There are no guarantees that your dog will develop the disease, but with prompt treatment, your dog can recover.

While your pet may exhibit symptoms initially, he can still carry the disease for months or even years. It is important to note that the symptoms only appear during an active infection. Lyme disease only affects dogs and ticks that have come into contact with the infected animal. You should take note that dogs that live in tick-infested areas are more prone to the disease and can pass on the bacteria to humans.

Preventing your dog from getting infected with Lyme is essential. Though there is no cure for this disease, you can do your part to prevent him from getting it. You should check your pets for ticks regularly and wash his bedding and fur regularly to avoid him coming into contact with ticks. If he does come into contact with ticks, your dog will need to be tested for ticks, and then treated using antibiotics. If caught early enough, Lyme disease can be avoided in your dog.
